On a peasant’s budget
The story of my life. With so many irons in the fire and so many adult responsibilities, how could I possibly consider adding anything else to my overtaxed schedule? Yet here I am, daydreaming about all the cool things I’d like to do, skills I want to hone. For instance…
- I’ve been thinking about starting a series of fun/funny videos called The Stoic Nerd focusing on the duality of my nature: (1) The serious/focused go-getter, and (2) the nerdy man-child who collects toys and plays video games.
- I’ve also been thinking about starting a podcast — like you do when you’re middle-aged — that focuses on (1) all things nerd (comics, superhero movies, video games, science, etc), (2) all things Stoic, and (3) the overlaps therein.
Yeah, yeah, I know. Who wants to see a gray-haired, grumpy-faced, middle-aged man with liver spots try to be funny? Or listen to that same guy talk about, well, anything? I can’t even get my dog to listen to me.
Such a boomer.
In other non-self-pitying news, last week I got to shoot another round of videos for Armory Outfitters, which means I also got to shoot some guns. Aside from being a general testosterone booster, I finally got to test out my GForce GF25 shotgun.
It was awesome. Check out the highlight video.
I recently jumped on the AI generated turn-yourself-into-a-toy trend. I chose to be a middle-aged Mando. It’s fairly accurate, although I think I look a bit like Nick Offerman.
This pleases me **said in my best Ron Swanson voice**
The other morning, I just happened to be outside in the wee hours before dawn letting Hazel spread her urinary dominance across the yard, when I realized the Milky Way was directly overhead. I managed to get a pretty spectacular photo.
Then there was the Kaiju attack… just kidding. But the other day, our Ring camera notified me there was a person at our back door. When I checked the camera, it had snapped an image of a wasp at just the right moment, so it appeared to be 100ft tall and heading my way.
Outside of that, it’s business as usual — an overabundance of deadlines and commitments. As I contemplate piling more onto my proverbial plate, I leave you with the overwhelming cuteness of Carson Wigglefoot and Hazel Wigglebottom.
Until next time, ‘ver heil ok sæl’.
