All quiet on the home front

The past two weeks have been strange. It’s been a weird balance of extremely busy and uneventful. I’m not complaining. Typically when things are “eventful” for me, there’s a fair amount of emotional weight that tags along. But thankfully it’s only been the demands of domestication — work, kids, tension headaches from poor posture.

With Spynn gone, the house is quieter. He was the highest maintenance dog of the three, and with the routine he had me trained to now unneeded, I find myself with gaps of time I now have to consolidate and put to good use. It’s strange the things you get used to without even noticing.

On a lighter note, I’m now 3 for 3 on my “photos of full moons” goal for 2023. The most recent were the Snow Moon in February and the Worm Moon last week. I plan on upgrading my phone soon, and hopefully I’ll be able to take better quality photos.

In my attempt to cut back on coffee, I’ve been drinking more tea. And in typical fashion, if there’s an opportunity to nerd out, I’m going to take it. I found Geeky Teas, a small business specializing in nerd-themed looseleaf teas. I bought a diffuser and a bag of Agent Coulson’s Blend — a Tahitian blend with overtones of toasted coconut. It took me to a magical place. (If you don’t get that reference, we can’t be friends.)

Also, my I Need Space t-shirt came in, and it’s glorious. It’s officially my new favorite shirt. It could be yours, too. So buy one.

This month kicks off a rapid succession of birthdays for us. Between now and mid-April, we’ll be celebrating 6 birthdays, including Shiloh’s. He turns 13 on March 22nd. If I could, I’d rename him and Hazel as Joel and Ellie (The Last of Us) because he’s an old man, and she’s the rebellious little girl.

Until next time, ‘ver heil ok sæl’.
