a Monkey’s Uncle!
By the way, if you haven’t watched The Last Kingdom on Netflix, you should. It’s great. I’ve watched the entire series at least 4 times. Because vikings.
The older I get, the lower my tolerance for “other people” becomes. Is it that people in general are becoming more intolerable? Am I becoming more judgmental? Or perhaps I never paid attention to how inconsiderate, selfish, and generally stupid people were until now?
The answer to all three is a resounding ‘Yes’.
My driveway is a great example. Years of flooding and everyone using our driveway to turn around has caused considerable damage, so much so that I’ve had to patch it (more than once). And on several occasions when people turn around, they misjudge the edge of the driveway, slide off the side, and smash in the end of the culvert that is now exposed due to said flooding and assholery. In an attempt to dissuade individuals from using the driveway, I’ve placed a bright orange cone over the patched area. This photo is the second round of patch work and cone because someone ignored the last one, crushed the cone, and damaged the original patch work.
I hate people.
I’m seriously one more cone away from placing a retractable spike strip across the end. But my luck, I’d forget it was there. 🤨
On top of my diminishing tolerance, I also struggle with a lack of patience. For instance, my Campfire Queen wanted to test out a king-sized mattress for (a) the softness, and (b) the extra space—you see, we’re both getting older and our aging bones need more comfort. The mattress was temporarily stored in our shop and needed to be moved into the house. Sure, I could’ve waited for her to get home. Sure, I could’ve spent 20 minutes concocting a way for my kiddo to help me. But if you want something done now right, you’ve got to do it yourself.
So I did. And there’s video evidence courtesy of our Ring camera. I also almost died because I forgot I’m out of shape and can’t do sh*t like that.
Speaking of a lack of patience and tolerance, the family and I went to see the new Captain America: Brave New World movie yesterday. I was really looking forward to this one. I was also really disappointed. It was not great. A solid 4/10. Terrible writing. Haphazard CGI. A plot that was given away in the first 5 minutes. I’m 80% done with Marvel at this point. They have 2 chances left for redemption: (1) Thunderbolts*, and (2) The Fantastic Four. If those are garbage as well, I’m officially done with the MCU.
Okay, that’s enough whining. So unstoic of me.
Time for the nerd stuff.
I finally got my Joel Miller YouTooz figure to complete my Last of Us collection. Now I have Joel and a Clicker YouTooz figures, and Ellie and another Clicker Funkos.
Along with that, Funko was having a sale on their LOTR collection, so I got a Gandalf the Grey figure that works perfectly as a bookend.
That’s all for now. With the impending Winter Weather Woes arriving tomorrow, I’m sure I’ll have more to complain about next week. With that, I leave you with the random sleeping positions of Hazel Wigglebottom.
Until next time, ‘ver heil ok sæl’.
