Despite my affinity for all things Captain America, I’ve always known deep down that if I were a superhero, I’d be more akin to Wolverine. He’s old, grumpy, and wants to be left alone. But when push comes to shove, he’ll step up and do the right thing… all the while complaining about how stupid the situation is and the people involved are idiots.
Because that’s what real heroes do.
It’s been a minute. It’s been a loooong, arduous minute. I’ve heard of life throwing you curveballs, but it’s like the pitching machine is stuck on high speed and won’t shut off. I guess when that happens, there’s only one thing left to do… swing for the fences.
Maximum effort.
Alright, now for the nerdy stuff.
If you haven’t watched Deadpool & Wolverine yet, I highly recommend you do. But be warned… it really feels like Ryan Reynolds made it his mission to cross every line just to see how much he could get away with before Disney stopped him.
They didn’t. And it’s perfect.
On the family front, the grandson has shown a propensity for kicking wildly. So I felt it was only fitting to adorn him with a Cobra Kai onesie to help him focus that energy.
Poop fast. Poop hard. No mercy.
Also, I’ve discovered my dad (in his youth) bears a striking resemblance to Pedro Pascal, which is a cool coincidence because I have him in my phone as the Dadalorian.
I’ve had a real itch lately to get back into illustration. I used to spend countless hours drawing in my youth. So I broke out the sketchbook and pencils and began working on a drawing of Donatello… because Ninja Turtles. I plan on doing this in full color.
In a recent nerd spending spree, I stocked up on coffee from Bones Coffee Co. I got a bag of Indiana Jones, The Dude (Big Lebowski), and Spiderman… which tastes just like Rice Krispie treats. It’s amazing.
I also purchased (1) the Funko 25th anniversary Captain America figure, complete with a custom coin, trading card, and pin. All of which is packaged in a collector’s tin; and (2) the Funko “Shields Through The Years” set of Captain America figures featuring all the shields over the years in his Marvel Comics run — including the shield from the Secret Empire run when he was a Hydra agent.
It’s quite possible that I have too many Captain America collectibles at this point.
