A tale of the dad who’s done a lot of driving recently. So much driving.
It’s been a busy few weeks. Yesterday, the family and I ventured to Shire Fest 2023 held by Shire Post Mint — and if you don’t know already, they make nerd coins of which I frequently purchase. We took a tour of their shop and museum, met some cool fellow nerds, explored the vendor tents, and bought some stuff.
Being a nerd is expensive.
While perusing the vendors’ wares, I stumbled upon local comic book artist and creator Gustav Carlson. I purchased Volumes 1 and 2 of his series Tourist Unknown. I can’t wait to dive into these.
I purchased a set of handcrafted D&D dice from Ashen Blade Art, as well as a dice tower from Evan of Ozark Dice & Destiny — I swear this guy is Jack Black’s long lost brother. This has reignited my goal of learning to DM so that I can host games for family and friends.
I found yet another book — Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods & Heroes from Pearls Books — to add to my growing stack of unread books. I have dubbed it The Stack of the Unread.
And lastly, I discovered I’m a “basic bitch” because of my love of pumpkin spice, thanks to the help of Candles by Whitney. Seriously, these handcrafted candles smell amazing. I bought The Basic Bitch (Pumpkin Spice & Caramel Latte) and Coffee… because I’m a coffee junkie.
The weather once again kept me from getting a shot of the full moon at the end of October. As it stands now, I won’t accomplish my goal of photographing every full moon, but it’s not from a lack of effort. I did manage to get a mostly clear shot of the Hunter’s Moon at 96% luminosity through cloud cover.
In other news, the custom Funkos I ordered for me and Koda arrived, and they are just as gloriously nerdy as I had hoped. We are now immortalized in high grade plastic. I highly recommend you go Funko yourself. Wow… that sounded WAY more offensive than I intended.
Speaking of my kiddo, he’s visiting his mom until Thanksgiving. There’s an uncomfortable void when he’s not here. We still play Fortnite almost every day, though. While he’s gone, he’s asked me to send him a photo of Hazel every morning. It’s made for an interesting and entertaining photo assignment. I don’t think I’ve ever met a dog with more personality.
Until next time, ‘ver heil ok sæl’.
