And that’s how every D&D campaign should start.
Last weekend, the Campfire Queen and I managed to spirit away on a MUCH NEEDED weekend getaway. Seriously, this is something that rarely happens anymore due to all of our mounting responsibilities. But this time we actually managed an entire weekend, even after all the logistical hoopla.
We spent the entire weekend in Eureka Springs. It’s a very eclectic / artistic / old-but-new little town. We love it.
Our first night there, we stumbled across Slane Tavern. The logo on the door caught my attention, and then the dark-rustic library decor drew me in. It has such a D&D nerd vibe, and I was into it.
We spent all of Saturday hiking around the main shopping district of Main Street, Spring Street, and Center Street. Uphill… downhill… upstairs… downstairs.
So many steps. So many stairs.
While there, we had to visit my favorite nerd shops: Packrat’s Paradise and Tee Rex. I scored a sweet new NASA ‘Nerd’ sticker for my macbook, along with a vintage Marvel action figure.
I’m hoping these micro-adventures keep coming. All work and no play makes us irritable and unsociable.
Until next time, game on.
